Julie grew up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin where she participated in recreational gymnastics, dance, swimming, and running. In high school she competed in swimming, diving and gymnastics. She received a scholarship to UW-Madison as a springboard diver. During her college years, she attained a degree in nursing and an interest in strength training.
When her kids were young, she stayed in shape running and completed 3 marathons. As the kids got older she amped up her fitness by taking and then teaching high intensity group exercise classes. She then learned of Crossfit, described as ‘the fittest on earth’ and she knew she had to give it a try.
Julie eased into Crossfit her first year. A trip to NYC and dropping into Crossfit 5th Ave changed that. She was inspired by the coaches who were competitive Crossfit athletes and decided then that she wanted to coach and compete. Shortly thereafter she received her Level 1, started coaching, and began training more seriously.
Over the next few years, she watched the results of her training pay off as she gradually crept up in the CrossFit open and earned a spot in the 2017 CrossFit Games as a masters athlete. Julie loves to inspire others to be their best self, to help them believe in themselves, achieve their fitness goals and lead healthy happy lives.
